








An international competition to design and shape the visit and remembrance experience in the extermination camp. The core concept is to chop the entire forest within the camp borders down to the height of 1.20 m (3.9 ft.), in order to symbolize the freezing of life within it. The long barracks are left as marks on the floor like permanent shadows. The new visitor's center is shaped like a typical barrack, and its rooftop reveals the enormous size of the extermination site. In the train station, a huge display of steel wagons, in which there are extractions of human figures in natural size.
